Now you will need to boot your Windows PC into Safe mode. In my case I have Windows 10 so in that case read on how to do that in Windows For others you will have to do a search to find out how on your specific version of Windows.

On Windows 10 Reboot your computer and when you get to the login screen go ahead and hold down shift key and from the power button option in the lower right choose reboot while holding down shift key still. After reboot choose troubleshoot,Advance options,Startup settings and restart. After restarting you should have a list of options, go ahead and select Safe Mode with Networking by pressing the corresponding number of the option on the keyboard.

Once your PC startup go ahead and login, the display should look different from normal as icons will look low resolution and larger. If that does not work for some strange reason then try the AVG Clear. I have been a long time user and fan of AVG and I have no clue whats happening as of late with the company as in past versions of AVG something like this would never happen.

I was on this issue for hours of frustration trying to deal with what should have been a simple uninstall. AVG really needs to do better. The key to getting rid of the App is to boot the PC into safe mode and use the main tool above to remove it for any version of AVG that you may have installed. Can't Install AVG on windows 10 | AVG - Technology,Shopping & Digital Entertainment made easy.

   

Almost every day now, when I go to run AVG it skips past each step. But the next time, the same thing happens. Very cumbersome to use suddenly, despite having used it for years without problems. What is happening?! Turned PC on today, warning from windows to turn on anti virus.

After several attempt it started, but said not protected, virus definitions out of date. Any ideas? On two machines AVG Free continued to work without problems. After some 4 hours of trying I gave up, deinstalled Avast and installed Bitdefender Free, which seems to work without a problem at least until now.

I have used AVG for many years now, first the commercial version on several pcs in my company, now, after retirement, the Free version for personal use on 3 pcs. I tried to update it many times and nothing happens! I have the same message again and again. I also noticed that Windows update is not working! I returned from holiday and booted up as normal, an update screen appeared to which I clicked yes, now after restarting as requested I get the blue screen of death followed by a black screen with flashing cursor!!!!!

That was five days ago, I have tried booting up in safe mode which works but I have tried syastome restore 5 times acroos restore points going back 3 months, nothing works, really annoyed!!!!! I have been using AVG free for years on Win7. There is no other button to press to get out of his except the little x in the top right corner which takes me back to where I click to open Antivirus Free … which takes me back to a page with red print ……… This means that I cannot scan my computer.

AVG is now off my machine. Bye AVG. Had to uninstall AVG Free because it blocked too many sites e. To me this was a major problem, and a scary one, coming on the heels of the ransomware scare.
